Welcome
As the world turns ... we all get busy. So we're still under construction over here.
What is 37th Exposure?
It's the 37th frame on a standard roll of film that has 36 exposures on it. Almost three decades ago I got my first real camera, a Canon A1. I learned to play at a very early age. And I was always amazed at the packets of prints I would get back and counting 37 prints, and yet the roll only has 36 exposures on it. Occasionally I would even get 38 frames. But I soon learned that you can't always count on that 37th frame because sometimes it's only a half a frame, whatever was left in the film canister. So I started shooting anything and everything once I got to that last frame. Since it didn't matter anyway, I just pointed the camera somewhere and hit the shutter release. Over time I came to appreciate the results, whether it was a real photograph or someone's half face. So the 37th exposure stuck with me.
So what about today?
Today, 37th Exposure is a way for me to express my passion: video. More specifically, playing with it. What started out as a personal project, filming my daughter during her school plays, has slowly grown into bigger and bigger projects. Other parents started seeing some of my work, or asking me to make them a duplicate. So the last three years or so, I've made it a much larger, not to mention expensive, hobby.
What can I expect to see here?
Well, as I mentioned before, this site is still under construction. At the moment this is simply a place holder as I try to get my ducks in a row here. But eventually I will start posting projects as I work on them, and ultimately the finished result. It's my wish that others can come see un-released projects (or even released one) and to enjoy some of the work I do. Perhaps even learn a thing or two from some of the processes I go through to make things.
Can I see a sample work?
Sure! As soon as I can convert it and get it posted. :)
Can I contact you?
That's easy, send me a note at info@37thexposure.com and let the creative juices flow.
